What to Bring

Packing List

You do not need to bring cookware, dishes, plates, cups, or utensils. We’ll be cooking meals together and will provide what’s needed for food.

That said, you are responsible for your own camping setup and personal gear.

Camping Basics

Tent

A basic camping tent is fine. Make sure you know how to set it up before you arrive, or at least be willing to learn while other men pretend they’ve known how to do it their whole lives.

Sleeping Bag

Bring a sleeping bag rated for cold weather. Last year it got down around freezing, so do not bring a lightweight summer sleeping bag and expect to be comfortable.

Sleeping Pad or Air Mattress

The ground is cold and hard. A sleeping pad will make a huge difference in warmth and comfort.

Pillow

Unless you enjoy using a sweatshirt as a pillow and waking up angry.

Flashlight or Headlamp

A headlamp is especially useful because it keeps your hands free. Bring extra batteries or make sure it is fully charged.

Warm Clothing

Pack warmer than you think you need. Bring layers, including a warm jacket, sweatshirt, long pants, beanie, warm socks, and something comfortable to sleep in.

Personal Toiletries

Bring your toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, medications, contacts/glasses if needed, towel, and any other personal items.

Bible

Bring your Bible. We’ll be spending time in God’s Word together.

Camping Chair

Bring a folding camp chair for sitting around the fire, Bible studies, and hanging out.

Recommended for Cold Weather

Mr. Heater “Little Buddy” or Similar Propane Heater

Since it can get very cold at night, you may want to bring a small propane heater, such as a Little Buddy heater.

Only use heaters that are specifically rated for indoor/tent-safe use, follow the manufacturer’s instructions, and keep ventilation in mind. Do not run a heater while sleeping unless the heater is designed for that use and you are following the safety instructions carefully.

Extra Blanket

Even with a good sleeping bag, an extra blanket can make a big difference.

Warm Hat and Socks for Sleeping

A beanie and warm socks at night are simple but very helpful.

Optional

Fishing Gear

We’ll be near Pinecrest Lake, so bring fishing gear if you want to fish.

Water Bottle

Bring a reusable water bottle.

Notebook and Pen

Helpful for Bible study notes, thoughts, and things you want to remember.

Snacks

Meals will be provided, but you can bring personal snacks if you want something specific.
